Every child has a story told about them again and again at Thanksgiving, weddings and reunions. A personal legend. In my case, it began with singing before I talked, learning the piano before ABC’s, writing and telling stories before knowing how to build a campfire, passing legislation before entering middle school. It just so happens that my initials tell my legend. MMEWS is my monogram. It represents my first, middle, confirmation, maiden and picked-up-once-upon-a-marriage-that-is-no-more names.
I was born a muse.
Somewhere along my way, though, I became a scientist and a diplomat–unlocking mysteries in the world around me, then working across cultures, languages and knowledge-bases to unite people toward a common understanding—one they can embrace, one that affects change.
But what I really want to be when I grow up, is a gypsy. I adore the wind and the sea and seek their counsel regularly in search of stories, dichotomies and philosophical ideals. I am consumed with wanderlust even though I have strong roots in a town I will forever call mine. But no matter where I am, you will likely find me singing, dancing or writing. Or you won’t find me at all.
Still, I will always be a muse. I live to write. Language is my religion; words are my prayers.
And like all religions, I believe in a higher purpose–mainly that language is the primary means to connect ideas and people, which is the basis of relationship, which, following the etymologic trail, means “to bring back to life.”
This collection of writings is simply a journal of the connections I’ve made of ideas found in the sfumato and aMMEWSment of my everyday. They bring me out of the duldrums and monotony of life, reviving my vivacity and charm. So I offer them to you, dear gentle reader, in hopes that you find amusement and maybe even connection of your own. And perhaps also vivacity and charm.

Love the blog. I’ll be back often! Cheers.

I love the sharing aspect of a blog…thinking of writing one myself. In the mean time, I’ll enjoy yours!
I say “write away!!!”" It’s one of the things I look forward to most, every day. And it gives such a great aspect of storytelling and dimension to life.
